New maps generation
Now the maps are fancier!
What does it mean exactly? I still use classic Rogue dungeons, but now I also generate thematic surroundings. Now, the same dungeon can look quite different, depending on the chosen theme:
Images above show the example of how maps may look now. They are the prototypes - the implementation is a bit different (and final version will be even more different). Currently, only these two themes (village and castle) are present, but as always, I tried my best to make it scalable (reads: make adding new maps as easy as possible).
These surroundings do not add anything functionally, as of now. Player still can only move within rooms and corridors, and all these houses, forests, kitchens and dining room are just decorations - you cannot interact with them directly. But, this opens additional possibilities in filling these maps: for example, now I can do it so that vampires can only be met in castles, or you have higher chances of finding gold when going past treasury, etc., etc. I've got a handful of ideas!
You could've noticed that the maps above are built using Kenney NL tilesets. Yes, I used them. In the final version of the game they will be replaced with custom-made tiles, but for now I'll keep using them as a placeholder.
Also, when you load the game, please don't get scared. I know that the game looks blurry as hell. Trust me, it has to be this way (c) for now, but it will get better when I move to final tileset.
