Fixing their plumbing


This devlog focuses more on fixing the existing stuff than adding the new one, but there's a bit of both. Let's see!

Encounter progress: The Bazaar

No big deal, however now the bazaar visitors have their own sprites!

New encounter: Party in the Skies

As you can easily guess from the title, the action takes place in the skies. You can meet old acquaintances - Angels and Phoenixes, but this time they will try on new looks, because they are gathered here on a special occasion: a noble family is holding a ball. The hostesses of the event are mysterious Ladies about whom you know little; which would you prefer: the innocense on White, or the ambition of Black?

Or perhaps, the passion of Red is more to your liking? Well, if thats the case, you'll have to play the game to see the third lady! All of them are rather lusty at heart, and are hungry for male attention, but they try to maintain decorum, so you can't just start doing your dirty tricks with them. The key to seducing them will be talking. Remember how I said that compliments, jokes and lewdities that you say will matter? Each of the girls is susceptible to one of these actions, and your task is to pick the correct key to each of their hearts by guessing which of them likes what.

The map for this encounter deserves a mention too. Here is a screenshot of it:

See how the walls are transparent? It wasn't easy xD. I also had to add special handlers for sorting objects by depth (it was necessary for walls, as in this encounter the hero can go right behind them):

Also, at certain points, the higher powers may conclude that you have outstayed your welcome, and then the very clouds beneath you may part...

The actors and interactive objects that you can see here use placeholder graphics for now - as usual, the final versions of the tiles and story for this encounter will be a bit later, so for now the encounter is excluded from the pool available for generation.

Bugfixes

Certain altruistic people have kindly agreed to help me test the current builds of the game for bugs, so I've spent some time fixing what they found. 

  • Fixed a bug where the game would let you select an action that was not actually available to the character at the moment. For example, previously, if a character was wearing a chastity belt, the game would prevent you from having sex using the "S" button, but "Have sex" action was listed when you walked towards a girl. Such actions will now be filtered correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where the game would preload the wrong audio files in Succubus scenes, and then crash trying to play a non-existent file.
  • Fixed the issue when the game would fail to calculate the scaling coeff for 4K monitors and crash on startup.
  • Disabled rudimentary default browser behaviour that allowed dragging UI elements.
  • Disallowed movement with clicks when contextual selection is in progress (before it was possible, for example, initiate sex, then move away from the girl by clicking before selecting the area)
  • Allowed continuing story with clicks if the game was lost in the middle of it (e.g. in the Onsen encounter)
  • Background music is now properly restored after loading saved game.

If you're aware of any other bugs and want to report them, please allow me to remind you that you can do this here in the comments, or in Discord, or on Reddit. When doing so, please include the relevant info (your system, browser, actions that preceded the bug, and if possible - logs from devtools). You'll be doing me an immense favor!

Quality of life updates

  • Added some messages highlighting non-obvious things (like that you don't necessarily have to keep trying to get up if Cowgirl is constantly knocking you down).

Balance changes

Hey, this is new! These aren't my main focus at the moment, but I'll be adding more of them later.

  • Cowgirl now skips her next turn after knocking you down. This should give you an additional opportunity to counteract - but consider wisely what to spend this extra turn on. Keep in mind that running away is not an option - cowgirls can cover a distance of several squares in one turn.
  • Amount of monsters per level now grows slower: you'll see more monsters on early levels, but less monsters on later levels. Total amount of girls on a given level now varies in rage from 4 to 10 (previously was 2 - 24). This should make early levels feel less empty, and later levels less overwhelming.

In conclusion

This time, I only uploaded the browser build - I am currently working from my laptop, and have some troubles building the game for desktop (Electron builder fails to execute, apparently due to non-english characters in my user name, and apparently changing your user name on Win11 isn't that trivial...) Sorry! I hope to upload the desktop build next week. Stay tuned!
