Panacea

Do you know what's the best cure for everything? If not, check out the devlog - maybe there are some hints in it! If you know already, please give it a read anyways - it will make me happier.

New scene with The Succubus: tailjob

By now you probably know that the Succubus has a tail. What you do NOT know is what she can do with that tail...

I won't say another word, go find out for yourselves!

All right, I guess I will say some words. Regarding whether this scene will work if you've seen the previous three. I'll be honest: I don't know. It should. But I've recently redesigned some of the save systems, including the Succubus attitude level, so there may be errors. If you can't see the scene, but really want to, you have two options:

  • be brave: delete the saves and replay the game again, 4 times;
  • be cold: send me your save file and I'll see what I can do.

Encounter update: Party in the Skies

Tiles for this map were updated to their final form.

New encounter: Magical Cure

You know how dangerous these labyrinths can be sometimes, don't you? Its inhabitants can leave you severely wounded... If thats the case, you came to the right place; get comfortable - the doctor will see you now. She wants to help you so very much, but alas, no matter how hard she tries with her ointments and poultices, it doesn't do much to speed up the healing process of your wounds. Well, she has some other ways to make you forget about pain, and I bet you'll like it!

What is it there, outside, you ask? Oh, don't worry about it... for now.

But what if the hero isn't wounded? Will he get no care and attention at all? I'm afraid so, in that case the doctor won't be able to use her healing magic. Unless, you could pretend to be ill? There's a lot of stuff on those tables over there, some of it might be able to help you... Just be careful not to ingest any unfamiliar substances.

The code for this encounter is ready. As is often the case, the story is delayed for now, so the encounter will appear in the general pool a little later. But for the record, my writer has promised me to complete the texts for several scenes at once in the near future. I'd be a fool to trust them, yet trust them I must, so hopefully the random encounter pool will be replenished soon!

Gallery update

Nine juicy new images has been added to the gallery - ready to be unlocked with dream shards, and then appear in game! Among the participants of the new lewd scenes - catgirl, cowgirl, bunny and goblin.

Balance changes

A tiny change in cowgirl's behaviour: when a certain level of pleasure is reached, if she favours the hero, she'll move from caresses to something more (there's even a special image for this case - if you have it open, of course).

Quality of life updates

Previously, when you repeated certain action multiple times for whatever reason, your sidebar got cluttered with the same message being repeated over and over.

Now this is solved:

Also (and this is probably much more important), I was recently reminded of a problem with the controls: constantly pressing keys to move is too tedious. I knew about this problem, but I kept putting it off, because it was technically difficult to implement continuous movement by pressing keys (since the game is turn-based, after each player's action the game calculates the behaviour of all other actors, and when pressing a key the handler can trigger several times per second, and this has to be optimised somehow...)

So I told myself: I'm not a wizard, I'm just learning, I'll leave this problem for my future self - I'll become older, wiser... Well, it looks like I bloody became! Because I decided to finally take on this problem, and surprisingly, I solved it rather quickly. You can now hold down keys, and the hero will continue to move in the direction indicated! Unfortunately, this currently only works for the NumPad - there are some problems with the arrows, but maybe later I'll come up with something for them as well.

As it happens with "quick" solutions - bugs are possible, so if you see one of them, you know where to find me.

Itch.io isues

Browser version of the game, deployed to Itch, is currently not available. With this update I added quite a bunch of files and, apparently, they were the last drop to push the files count over the limit, as now I'm getting this error:

There was a problem loading your project:
Too many files in zip (1022 > 1000)

Having such a limit is an understandable measure - from an old thread I found, it:

  • prevents someone from uploading something a zip bomb and causing a denial of service on the server side;
  • saves players from finding their browser and OS taken out by a game too big to load and play.

At the same time, I believe my game does nothing wrong, as it utilizes the "lazy loading" (only fetch the core assets first, and then obtain everything else later, when the game actually needs it - e.g. before entering the level where its used). So having lots of small files is preferrable, as it allows me to load as few resources as possible when the game starts. Additionally, I need to split things like tile maps or sprites so that they don't exceed 1024x1024 resolution, cause on many mobile devices thats the maximum texture I can use in WebGL. So, while in theory reducing the files count by combining them into larger chunks is possible, on practice it means spending a lot of time and effort, while actually lowering the performance.

Because of all this, I hope the need of bigger files limit is justified for my game, so I contacted Itch support, asking them if its possible to increase the said limit. I'm not sure how long its gonna take them to answer, so while I'm waiting for it, you can play the game in your browser on my website - https://synthoel.com/. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You can still download the desktop version of the game here - hope it helps.
